BUT holds training meeting
Education on Wednesday night.
The sparsely attended Bermuda Union of Teachers general membership meeting was also called to amend the union's constitution to reflect the new middle and senior school representation.
In October, BUT and Ministry officials were at loggerheads over the scheduling of the union's annual conference and the Ministry's professional development day.
The development day was to be held on November 9 -- Election Day -- but was switched to November 10.
Chief Education Officer Joseph Christopher first gave the union an ultimatum, but later backed down.
This month, new Premier Jennifer Smith announced that Government planned to talk with teachers about professional development.
She said the PLP wished to open discussions with teachers to address their concerns.
No such meeting has been scheduled so far and Ms Smith could not be reached for comment.
The poor attendance at last night's meeting was blamed on the short notice given and another meeting taking place at the same time at CedarBridge Academy.
