Car rolled over man
last night after it rolled onto him in a Devonshire driveway.
A Fire Services spokesman, who believed the victim was in his mid-20s, said the accident occurred just after 7 p.m. at 4 Happy Dale Road.
"The car,'' he said, "was backing down the driveway and backed over the person. We used high-pressure air bags to raise the car. The person was then removed and transferred to the hospital.'' Last night, neither Police nor Fire Services had established the name of the man, who was conscious when firefighters pulled him from underneath the car.
King Edward VII Memorial Hospital staff refused to reveal the extent of his injuries.
According to Fire Services, nine firefighters and two vehicles responded to the accident. It took personnel approximately 14 minutes to free the man.
