the sixth annual College and University Fair this week.

Each year the fair, sponsored by the Ministry, attracts as many as 1,200 students and their parents seeking information about post-secondary educational opportunities and scholarships.

At this year's fair -- to be held at the Princess Hotel -- there will be several free events "to help students realise the dream of higher learning and professional career entry'', local organiser Janette Musson said.

One of those events will be a workshop entitled "Navigating the College Admissions Process'' for students and their parents.

The workshop will be held on November 20 at the Adam's Lounge of Princess, beginning at 5.30 p.m. It will be held again that day at 8 p.m.

Guest speaker Ron Ancrum -- principal of Boston-based Ancrum & Solomon, Inc.

and an expert on college admissions issues -- will share tips on college selection and admissions, how parents can help their children in college selection, financing a college education, and the student's experience away from home.

Meanwhile, the "College Fair Program for Parents'' will take place from 6 to 8.30 p.m. in the Princess Rooms.

Representatives from about 40 colleges in the US, the UK, and Canada will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about their respective institutions.
