Magistrates' Court last week.

Tishane Sinclair Robinson, of Old Road, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon -- a finger ring. Robinson also pleaded guilty to obstructing the duties of a Police officer.

Prosecutor Sgt. Philip Taylor told the court at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning, residents of the Devon Springs Road area complained to Police about a group of youths playing loud music, being rowdy and playing football.

Police attended the scene and questioned Robinson. Sgt. Taylor said Robinson aroused the suspicions of the officers by refusing to cooperate and initially giving a false name and birth date.

The officers searched Robinson and discovered a large, silver, skull-shaped finger ring with nine protruding metal spikes and inside padding.

Duty counsel Victoria Pearman said she accepted the ring was actually a weapon.

She pointed out Robinson's clean record and the fact that neither he nor any of the other youths had been charged with disturbing the peace. Mr. Hodgson bound Robinson over for one year and ordered the ring be destroyed.
