Crime report to go before MPs next week
handling of serious crime on the Island when it goes to the House of Assembly next Friday, The Royal Gazette can reveal.
Governor Thorold Masefield will officially send the 80-page document, which includes 65 recommendations for improvement, when MPs meet on November 3.
The report is expected to be released to the media and public on that day, and Mr. Masefield is also expected to hold a Press conference on its findings, and make a statement.
It is thought that he will be joined at that conference by members of the Governor's Council, Director of Public Prosecutions Khamisi Tokunbo and Police Commissioner Jean-Jacques Lemay.
They have already seen the report, along with Premier Jennifer Smith.
The Commission of Inquiry into the handling of serious crime was held in August following concerns over the investigation and prosecution of major incidents, particularly the death of Canadian teenager Rebecca Middleton.
