Don't ask us -- ask the PLP members!
Let the members decide! That was the prevailing view of voters on whether the leadership of the ruling Progressive Labour Party should be changed.
The Royal Gazette took to the streets of Hamilton yesterday to ask voters' opinion on the subject in the run up to an internal party election in November for the post of PLP leader.
Many of the people who were asked: "Should there be a change in leadership within the PLP?'' said they felt it was up to party members to decide.
Ann Robinson, a bank employee said: "It should remain as it is at present.
They are doing a good job.'' Graeme Outerbridge, Deputy Chairman of the National Liberal Party, said: "It is up to the membership of the PLP, although it doesn't make sense to change leader just before the next election.
"It would be unfair to dump the leader mid-way through her term. The most appropriate time is in the run up to an election unless circumstances dictate otherwise.'' Dan Dempster, a local artist, said: "It is a tough decision. Continuity is important, however leadership needs to be seen and heard often.'' "If they are not happy, maybe they should change,'' said L. Christopher of the Bank of Bermuda.
"If they decide they need to change, I don't see anything wrong with it,'' said Fabian Harris, a BTC employee.
It should be noted that the majority of the people approached during the informal poll did not want to comment on the matter.
