Of the 80 drivers who were arrested this year on suspicion of impaired driving, 40 failed the alco-analyser test while 21 refused to take it and ten passed.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Vennings said 14 drivers had been arrested following accidents.

"Motorists should make arrangements for alternative transport or select a designated driver if they intend drinking during this very active weekend,'' P.c. Venning said, referring to Cup Match.

"Police patrols will be seeking those drivers who fail to heed the advice.''
