Drunk driver almost collided with police
after he was caught driving drunk by Police.
Oscar Curtis, of Privateer Lane, pleaded guilty to the December 19 offence.
Police prosecutor, Insp. Peter Duffy said officers were on patrol at 3 a.m.
when they spotted Curtis driving along Reid Street.
As Curtis approached the junction of Reid and King Streets, the officers had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision.
The officers followed Curtis and saw that he was driving erratically. When they stopped him they noticed his speech was slurred, his eyes were glazed and his breath smelled of intoxicants.
Curtis told the officers he had only had two beers. When tested by the alco-analyser officers found Curtis to have 195 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system.
"Do you realise you had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in your blood?'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis asked Curtis.
