Drunk driver taken off road for year
last week after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Robert Llewellyn Dawson, 52, of Market Lane in Pembroke, was seen by a Police patrol on April 7 at about 10 p.m. on Pitts Bay Road heading east.
He was driving in an erratic manner, going slowly around corners and crossing the central line.
Police followed Dawson along Front Street where he stopped at a red light and appeared to have trouble balancing the bike. He was pulled over a short distance later.
According to officers, Dawson's speech was slow and slurred and his breath smelt of alcohol.
When asked by Police if he had been drinking, Dawson replied that "he had had a couple of drinks''.
Dawson told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that he drove trucks for a living and asked if he could retain his truck license.
Mr. Warner replied: "The Supreme Court says I have no discretion in cases of driving under the influence and must disqualify you from driving all vehicles.''
