Employee stole from gas station
$29.79 in food items from the establishment was last week fined $200 by Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.
Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said Dennis Leroy Wolffe of North Shore Road in Pembroke originally denied the offence, but later admitted to Police that he took the groceries.
The court heard that the manager of the service station contacted Police on November 11, because he suspected employees had stolen merchandise. Detectives were sent to monitor the area. When bags belonging to Wolffe and other workers were searched, they found food items which had not been paid for.
"I told them they could keep my week's wages and vacation pay I had coming to cover the cost,'' said the 42-year-old. "I never stole anything from there before, and I'm sorry I did.''
