Essence magazine tells the Premier: `Ya done good, girl'
Premier Jennifer Smith has been honoured for her political achievements in an American magazine targeted at black women.
Ms Smith has been featured in a section of this month's Essence magazine entitled `ya done good, girl', which pictures women around the globe who have made their mark in their chosen profession or interest.
Of the Premier, it says: "The waves in Bermuda aren't all at the beach.
Recently-elected Premier Jennifer Smith caused a riptide when she toppled one of the world's longest-serving Governments on the 22.7-square mile Island. It was the first time the other party had lost an election since the Country's self-rule was introduced in 1968. Ms Smith, the Island's second female leader, ran on a platform for a new Bermuda, promising to boost the number of native folks in senior posts, limiting prospects for expatriates. She also vowed to build lower-cost housing amid all the estates and resorts. She certainly gets our vote.'' Kudos: Premier Jennifer Smith
