Fubler shooting trial to begin in Georgia

years ago is set to be tried this week in a Georgia courtroom.

Charles Lyndon Fubler will get his first chance to see the man who shot him in the head damaging a promising career for the former Policeman turned college student.

If convicted, Augusta prosecutors will ask that Los Angeles "Crip'' gang member Mark Lorenzo Squires be imprisoned between 75 and 100 years for the triple shooting on November 13, 1995.

Squires also faces the death penalty for three homicides in North Carolina, for which he will be tried in the future.

It is understood Mr. Fubler, who returned to Bermuda to work, is in Augusta and will testify, although he told a jury for Squire's accomplice he had no memory of the incident.
