Gambling house described as `state-of-the-art'
A gambling operation that is reminiscent of a Las Vegas casino is being run behind the guise of a private home. Located in a secluded area in Smith's Parish, the sprawling two-storey mansion is a hot spot for individuals looking to make fast money.
People who have visited Seamont Exclusive said it was a "state of the art, professional set up'' and noted that "anything and everything goes on in the house''.
But gambling is the main attraction for people, according to customers.
"People think that Bermuda is this quiet place,'' a man, who refused to be named, said, "but you'll be surprised what goes on in this Island.'' People who visited the house said security was tight with mounted cameras watching every move.
And hostesses greet potential players and direct them to either the first or second floor, depending on their gambling preference -- membership being the key to the second floor.
The state of the art operation downstairs is equipped with nearly two dozen electronic gaming machines that used only American currency to operate.
They offer games of chance for amateurs and professionals, and patrons are encouraged to play until their money was gone.
When they were out of money, they did not have to wait long to get more because the hostesses were ever present.
Upstairs was fully equipped with various private rooms offering visitors their choice of games including poker tables and slot machines.
The establishment, which does its promotion through word of mouth, is building a loyal following thanks to a special incentive package given to taxi drivers.
Even at midday, customers are at the site to gamble, but it is the weekends that attract the most business.
One man, who claimed he was a regular visitor to the property, said he appreciated the seclusion and privacy of the venue and said he had reaped the benefits of continuous play on the gaming machines, claiming to have won huge jackpots.
