Garland swaps bar for the Bar!
Twenty-seven-year-old Miss Garland was a bartender at `The Club' when she applied to join the Attorney General's chambers. Miss Garland studied law in such far-flung places as Las Vegas, New Mexico, Durham University, York College of Law and the University of Edinburgh. While at Edinburgh she received a first class honours for her dissertation on `Late Night Disorder & Licensing Laws in Edinburgh'.
Miss Garland thanked all the organisations and people who gave financial and personal support to her during her studies.
Puisne judge Wade-Miller congratulated Miss Garland, praising her for her attention to detail. Mrs. Justice Wade-Miler also welcomed corporate lawyer, David Stockman to the Bar.
Mr.Stockman, 52, a UK citizen with 25 years' legal experience, has been employed with the law firm of Conyers, Dill & Pearman since late 1997. He was full of praise for the Island, describing it as "the nearest place to paradise that I have ever lived in''.
Called to the Bar: Crown prosecutor Caitlin Garland, a former bartender, and lawyer David Stockman were both called to the Bermuda Bar on Friday March 26.
