counts of breaking and entering with intent to steal -- all on the same day.

Neville James Wood of Somerset, also pleaded guilty to one count of breaking and entering with theft, and an additional charge of stealing 4,935 Mexican pesos from World Cup soccer referee Antonio Manufo.

The pesos were stolen from Manufo's room at the Sonesta Beach Hotel last October, between October 16-17. Sgt. Peter Giles, prosecuting, said the value of the money was approximately US $1,652.

Wood was arrested on October 20 as he attempted to convert the currency into dollars at the Bank of Bermuda on Church Street.

Sgt. Giles said between December 29 and January 4, Wood broke into the house of Joseph Giannio on Tankard Lane in Somerset. He stole a leather jacket valued at $350 and a $50 denim shirt.

The court heard that Wood broke into four houses in Somerset on December 14, entering by unlocked front doors and fleeing when he was confronted.

Sgt. Giles said Wood, who is currently incarcerated, had a considerable record of similar offences. He recommended that Wood be sent to the Supreme Court for sentencing.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis agreed, and remanded Wood into custody until his sentencing.

"These are serious offences,'' he said.
