Saturday morning after they spotted a Sandys Parish man driving a stolen cycle.
The 18-year-old driver was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with a broken leg, cuts and bruises and extensive damage was caused to the bike as well as a car which it ran into.
The chase began when Police tried to stop the driver on North Street, Hamilton at about 10.25 a.m. and he rode off at high speed.
As the cycle turned onto Dutton Avenue it collided with a Suzuki car travelling in the opposite direction.
Police said the rider was thrown into the road and suffered several injuries but the driver of the car was not hurt.
