Homes hit in storm
Firefighters were called out to Gilbert Hill after a lightning bolt smashed windows at a property.
Part of a carpet was also burned, said a Fire Service spokesman.
"There appears to have been an electrical surge in the Cablevision line,'' he added. "We checked the property and there did not seem to have been a fire.'' The incident occurred at 1.40 p.m. on Saturday -- and ten minutes later firefighters were called to a property on South Shore Road.
It had also been hit by lightning, although damage appeared minimal.
Rain caused two house floodings -- one in Pembroke on Saturday and the other in Southampton yesterday.
The US Naval Oceanography Command Facility said 1.52 inches of rain fell during the weekend.
The wet weather may continue today, with strong chance of rain.
