At a meeting earlier this week the Development Applications Board was asked to consider phase one of the $150 million plan dealing with office development.

The Bermuda Financial Centre has already received outline permission for phase one and the DAB gave final approval for the offices.

Overall the plan includes office space, a hotel and luxury homes.

A proposed expansion to Island Construction Services' Devonshire premises has been rejected by planners.

The company had planned an extension to a garage and a new storage building in Middle Road.

But the Development Applications Board threw out the proposal, believing it would damage an adjoining nature reserve and wetland habitat, and threaten wildlife.

The DAB also argued the development flouted the Bermuda Plan 1992 and would prove an eyesore.

In other planning matters, the DAB also: Deferred an application by Shell Company of Bermuda to renovate an office and workshop spaces, pending the receipt of more information; and Approved a plan by Bermuda Magazine publisher Kevin Stevenson to build a sea wall at Tankfield Hill, Paget.
