Indecent act at bus depot
at the Hamilton bus depot was this week given a three-month suspended prison sentence.
Angelo Wolfe, of Cedar Park Avenue, Devonshire, admitted committing an indecent act on Boxing Day, last year.
Sgt. Wilbert McLean, prosecuting, said the complainant was using a public pay phone next to the depot early in the afternoon when she was approached by Wolfe.
The court heard that Wolfe came within two yards of the girl, exposed himself and began to masturbate.
Sgt. McLean said the girl pushed Wolfe away and told him to leave her alone but he only ran off after several members of the public came into view.
On January 20, Wolfe was seen on Cedar Park Avenue by Police officers who arrested him and questioned him about the incident.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis told Wolfe he would be given a chance based on the recommendation of probation services.
"We can't have you going around acting like this. It's been recommended to me that I give you a chance. I will do so. But you know you can't be given too many chances. If you do this again, I may have to send you to prison,'' he said.
WOMAN STRUCK POLICEMAN CTS Woman struck policeman A woman took a flying leap at her boyfriend during a fight but ended up connecting with a Policeman who was trying to calm things down, Magistrates' Court heard.
Sgt. Wilbert McLean, prosecuting, said that at 8 p.m. on May 17, Police were called to Warwick Camp, where Deborah Jean Richardson was being beaten by a man. Richardson tried to punch and kick the man as Police were speaking to him, and an officer had to stand between the two people to stop them fighting.
"She made a flying leap towards the male party, who was standing behind the Police officer,'' said Sgt. McLean. "The officer was struck on the chest.'' Richardson was rude and obnoxious and tried to push the officer away, grabbing his shoulder lapel and ripping it off, he said.
Richardson, 32, of Cedar Hill, Warwick, admitted assaulting a Police officer, using offensive behaviour, and damaging the $23.83 shirt. She was fined $300.
"The shirt got ripped because he pushed me,'' she told the court. "I grabbed onto his shirt and that's how it tore. It wasn't deliberate.
"I was extremely distraught and angry with the fight I had with my boyfriend and that's why I reacted like I did.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis told her: "The Policeman came there to try to save you from being beaten up, and you assaulted him and ripped his uniform.'' MAN FINED AFTER HATCHET THREAT CTS Man fined after hatchet threat A man arrested after brandishing a hatchet at a store manager later threatened to kill Police, Magistrates' Court heard.
Edmund Eugene Talbot, 60, of no fixed abode, was asked to leave by the manager of the Heron Bay MarketPlace last Saturday evening after he abused and swore at patrons, said Sgt. Wilbert McLean, prosecuting. Once outside he pulled out a hatchet and threatened the manager.
He left on his bike when he realised Police had been called, but officers caught up with him at Lightbourne's Mini-Mart in Southampton, and took the hatchet off him. At Hamilton Police Station he became abusive and threatened to kill all the officers.
Mr. Kim White, defending, said the hatchet was a tool Talbot used in his work and kept in a loop on his belt. He had gone to the supermarket to get items for the weekend.
"He was set upon verbally by a member of staff there and he replied in kind,'' said Mr. White. "The manager continued the altercation outside and Mr. Talbot did regretfully take the hatchet out and shake it at him.'' Talbot admitted using threatening behaviour and having an offensive weapon and was fined $400. Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis told him: "If you pull out a tool and threaten someone with it, it converts from being a tool into a weapon.''
