The assessments or Annual Rental Values (ARVs) in the new list reflect recent changes in the property market.

As a result of this, the Finance and Environment Ministries said in a joint statement, "the ARVs of some properties have increased substantially, while others have changed little or not at all''.

However, the Finance Ministry stressed that the July 1995 and January 1996 land tax bills will be based on the old ARVs and tax rate structure.

"In other word,'' the Ministry stated, "there will be no change in land tax bills other than those announced in the February budget.''
