Senior Magistrate Will Francis handed down the fine after hearing that 23-year-old Smith, of Riviera Crescent, had overturned a number of trash cans along Reid Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Phil Taylor, of the Police Prosecutions Department, told the court that officers on mobile patrol at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday noticed "a maze of trash strewn in the road and several overturned trash receptacles'' along Reid Street.
Sgt. Taylor also explained that as the officers approached the area near the Esso City Automart, they caught Smith over-turning a receptacle at the junction with Par-la-Ville Road.
