Man admits sex assault on niece, 13
Crown counsel Graveney Bannister told Magistrates' Court that on a date between September, 1996, and June, 1997, the 13-year-old victim visited her family's home where the accused resided.
She entered his room to watch television and, once seated on the couch, the man rubbed her breasts with his hand over her clothes.
He then rubbed the victim's private parts in the same fashion.
The actions stopped when someone tried to open the door to the room.
The incident was reported to Police by the victim's mother on November 16, 1999, and the accused appeared at Hamilton Police Station where he admitted the incident happened.
He gave Police no explanation, except that he knew it was wrong.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report into the matter, to be completed by September 8, and released the man on $2,000 bail and one like surety.
