Man fined $1,000 for drug possession
Charles Herbert Every, of Serpentine Road, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court last Friday.
Prosecutor Veronica Gordon said Police arrived at Every's residence at 5.55 a.m. on October 8 with a search warrant and a K-9 dog unit.
Officers along with drug-sniffing dogs went into Every's bedroom and living room.
When asked if he had drugs in the house, Every replied: "Yes, I have drugs if you call it that -- I call it herb.'' With the dogs' assistance, Police discovered plastic bags and canisters containing cannabis, broken stalks, seeds, cigarette papers and pay-type envelopes.
After a search that lasted close to three hours, Police arrested Every and later discovered the total quantity of cannabis was 114 grams.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis took Every's cooperation and lack of antecedents into consideration and fined him $1,000.
