The Rt. Wor. William Boyle said it was essential bottles and cans were separated so they could be recycled.

"It is important everybody makes that effort. We need the cooperation of the public,'' he said, pointing out the Corporation of Hamilton provided a garbage collection service.

Mr. Boyle added the Corporation had acquired a new mechanical road sweeper as part of ongoing efforts to keep the city clean.

"We are also looking at providing bigger trash containers.''
