Minister in call to save water
to their water conservation habits of yesterday.
Mr. Scott said Bermuda was outstripping the water supply by ten percent because of the substantial growth in population and living standards.
The Island's consumption of water has gone well beyond the original rainwater systems and has now gone beyond the ground water supply systems.
Residents are reminded of simple actions to help the water situation before it becomes a problem in the unpredictable summer months.
Check household plumbing for leaks and repair immediately. Check water tank levels and only order water to provide for basic needs.
When washing cars, people are reminded to use a bucket rather than an open hose pipe and in the house, use one basin of water at a time rather than letting the tap run.
"It is in everyone's interest to be more careful in the use of water. If we all practise these simple actions there will be enough water for everyone, even in the driest of weather,'' said the Minister.
