And the Corporation is now encouraging the community to help in making the town more attractive.

Corporation member Mr. E. Michael Jones said they would like to see more residents and shop owners put in place window boxes with plants or flowers.

"We want to get residents involved in the beautification project because when the Corporation plants things they sometimes get pulled up,'' Mr. Jones said.

"With everyone helping, people will keep an eye out for the plants and flowers because they may know someone that planted them.'' Mr. Jones added that schools, senior citizens, churches and clubs were all being encouraged to get involved.

"We don't just want people to beautify the town but their neighbourhoods as well.'' Mr. Jones said that he would be planting plants and flowers at the roundabout at the junction of Khyber Pass and Suffering Lane in memory of the late Mrs.

Albertha Smith, Mr. Royden Hall, Mr. and Mrs. James Richardson and Mrs. Agnes Weller who "were all stalwarts of the community''.
