after he was involved in a serious accident in Warwick just after 7 p.m.

An ambulance rushed him to hospital where he was immediately wheeled into the operating room to undergo emergency surgery which was hoped would stabilise his critical condition.

Police desperately tried to contact the man's family last night so they could be at his bedside -- and were unable to confirm his identity until relatives were notified.

The accident victim was believed to have been in collision with a stationary heavy truck in Hillview Road, Warwick.

He sustained serious head, face and internal injuries but was still clinging to life late last night.
