Seventeen-year-old Michael Fuhrtz, of St. David's, pleaded guilty to speeding at 61 kms and Mr. King asked how much his mother could pay.
Mary Jane Fuhrtz Smith said: "He will pay it himself. I do not pay any fines for him.'' Ms Smith is the mother of 15-year-old Eric "Roach'' Fuhrtz, who passed away after a road traffic accident in January.
Speaking with The Royal Gazette after the hearing, she urged drivers to slow down, leave for their destination early and take their time.
"As far as I'm concerned, it only takes one mistake -- it may not be your own,'' she said.
Ms Smith said it was "easier'' to take your time rather than have "Rest In Peace'' on your tombstone or letting "the graveyard speak for you''.
