MP's wife to take the stand
wife's side of a case involving her dog today Linda Horton is expected to take the stand in her own defence and answer charges she allowed her dog to stray on July 5 last year and owned a dog which bit another dog that day.
Friday's hearing revolved around the testimony of neighbour Felicity Cole who filed the complaint after the Horton dog, a Rottweiler and Labrador mix, allegedly bit her English Setter at 7.15 a.m.
"The Horton dog jumped out and bit my dog on the neck,'' she said. "It was howling and growling and my dog was just screaming and trying to defend itself. At that point I dropped my dog's lead so that he would be better able to defend himself.'' Ms Cole added she pulled at the Horton dog and was able to get male neighbours to try and separate them.
The attack ended after the dogs rolled into the Horton's yard. She said it was not the first attack.
Under cross examination by Kevin Bean of Juris Law Chambers, Ms Cole said she moved into the neighbourhood in January last year and denied that Callan Glen Rise was not the only access to her apartment.
And when Mr. Bean asked if she had allowed her dog onto the Horton's property that morning, Ms Cole replied: "That's absolutely not true.
"I'm absolutely sure my dog did not approach or go near their property,'' she said. "In fact my dog was on a leash so he could not stray.'' Ms Cole said she had spoken to Mr. Horton about the attacks and that he had promised to "do something about it''.
Neither Ms Cole or neighbour David Outerbridge saw the Hortons as the attack was going on.
