New boss at Grotto Bay
manager.
Hotel financial secretary and spokesman Mr. Charles Vaucrosson confirmed yesterday the position had been filled pending Immigration approval. The owners were unable to find a Bermudian.
"We tried but we just couldn't find anyone,'' he said.
The hotel was happy to interview anyone who had the experience of running a major hotel, he said.
The new manager was a non-Bermudian with "considerable experience,'' Mr.
Vaucrosson said. Further details about him would be announced soon, he said.
Mr. Clyde Darrell, the Bermudian resident manager, will continue in the position.
Following the sudden departure of the hotel's former general manager, Bermudian Mr. George Robinson, the hotel encountered more staffing upheavals when dining room manager Mr. Valerio Ausenda, who was accused by hotel union members of making a racial slur to other members of staff, left just weeks after his work permit was extended by Immigration. This July, his replacement, Bermudian Mr. Archer Hill, lost his job.
