Bermuda lawyer Mr. Richard Hector.

Mr. Hector was attending civil cases in Magistrates' Court when he made the comment.

He had one case among more than 40 in the overcrowded courtroom. Many people were forced to stand out in the corridor until their cases were heard.

Mr. Hector said: "This is the largest number of people I have ever seen in this court.

"It may be an indication of what is going on in our society. It is nearly as big as the divorce court!''
