Parking ban begins today
Street and the top of Spurling Hill went into effect this morning.
The move, by the Corporation of Hamilton, is intended to provide two clear lanes of traffic heading out of the City subsequently improving traffic flow and reducing the risk of accidents.
Corporation secretary Roger Sherratt said the only exception to the new rule was that containers would be allowed to unload outside Island Trading Company at times other than during rush hours.
Meanwhile, businesses along that stretch of road, including Island Trading, Rego Limited and Windjammer Gallery, will lose the benefit of having customer parking outside their premises.
But Mr. Sherratt said the Corporation would be providing a row of free parking spaces in the Cavendish Road Car Park in the row nearest the road.
