Plan to help job-seekers
provide $300,000 in annual funding for a career counselling centre.
The facility is being set up to help job seekers find information about employment opportunities and to provide career guidance.
Government will provide half the funding while businesses will pony up the rest. The board of trustees for the Bermuda Careers Centre is currently considering a site in Hamilton for the facility. The facility will have a full time staff member to help job seekers.
Board chairman Brian Hall said the centre would help prepare Bermudians for the job market by providing information and guidance.
The board of the facility is made up of representatives from The Bermuda Electric Light Co. Ltd., The Bank of Bermuda, ACE Ltd., Exel Ltd., Ernst & Young, and from the trade and hospitality sectors. A steering committee has also been formed with representatives from various public bodies.
