A total of 69 percent believe the PLP landslide victory is very, or generally good for the Island.

And only five percent hold out a gloomy view of the result -- rating the new Government as generally very bad for Bermuda.

But there are still worries over the future -- with education, tourism and housing topping the poll of major concerns.

The survey -- carried out by Total Marketing and Communications -- said: "A clear majority of residents are positive about the outcome. This high degree of optimism is consistent throughout the general Island population.'' But it added black Bermudians, men, aged between 18-34 and people who live in Sandys or Southampton are most likely to give the PLP top marks.

And the survey team said: "Of particular note is that the outcome is viewed as good by a majority -- 54 percent -- of Bermudians who voted for the UBP in November, compared with only 16 percent who expressed a negative view about the election result.'' A total of eleven percent said education was the most important priority for the new Government, followed by the decline in tourism and housing issues, including the cost of a home, tying for second place on ten percent.

And the survey results noted men worried more about tourism, while women were more likely to plump for concern over education.

Crime and the economy -- both on eight percent -- come next on the list, with drugs problems rating sixth on five percent.
