Police looking for bag's distributor

have been sold to a young woman while she visited Bermuda in 1981.

She was found dead in upstate New York sometime after her visit and the Police are appealing to the public to identify the canvas pouch which will assist in the inquiry.

A Police spokesman said the woman, who was 21, visited Bermuda in March 1981 and stayed at the Sonesta Beach Hotel. While she was here she shopped in Hamilton and St. George's.

The pouch is canvas with a zipper, dark blue in colour with turquoise, yellow, and coral edging stripes. It measures about six and a half inches by six and a half inches by three inches and bears the manufactures's label, Hunt Country, on one side. Depicted on the label is a profiled horse.

The US Police seek information on any sale or distribution in Bermuda since 1981 of a pouch of this description. It is thought most likely that such a pouch would have been sold or distributed by a commercial retailer.

Anyone responding to this appeal is asked to contact the Bermuda Community and Media Relations department at 299-4291 or 299-4321 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Monday to Friday.
