Police reserves to host int'l meeting
in Bermuda for part-time officers.
Reserve Police Commandant Eugene Vickers has invited 60 countries that have part-time forces to attend, including the US, Canada and the West Indies.
So far, 20 reserve forces have said they would be interested in coming to the Island for the event in October 14-18 next year.
And senior full-time Police officers may also find it valuable to attend.
Mr. Vickers said that if it was successful, he hoped the four-day conference could become an annual event in different host nations.
He said: "The idea of the conference is to have roundtable discussions with other reserves from different parts of the world to talk about experiences and our future. I think we could learn and improve from speaking to each other.'' He said he was looking for sponsorship to help fund the conference, which will be held at one of the larger hotels on the Island.
Interested people should call Mr. Vickers on 299-4442, or at work on 236-0829.
