Reinstatement still sought
job in support of sacked shop steward Mr. Lynn Darrell, have found full-time employment.
And even those who have would prefer to be back at the Mill Creek trucking firm, Bermuda Industrial Union organiser Mr. Robert Johnston told The Royal Gazette yesterday.
Mr. Johnston estimated that about five of the 15 former Bermuda Forwarders employees have secured full-time employment.
He said the rest of the men are getting "hustles'' -- such as hiring out their cars at grocery stores for shoppers without transportation -- one or two days a week.
He added that all but one of the men are married with children.
Mr. Johnston stressed that the union is standing by its demand that all the men be re-instated at Bermuda Forwarders.
Last Monday, the union issued a 21-day strike notice stating that unionised airport workers and dock workers will not handle any cargo for the trucking firm if the men are not re-instated.
