Last night the 18-year-old Southampton man was still being treated in the casualty department at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman described the man's condition as "stable'' and said he would be admitted to a general ward.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on a bend in Emily's Bay Lane, St.

George's.

Firefighters from the nearby Clearwater Station gave first aid to the injured man before he was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
