Malcolm Simmons Thompson of Somerset Road was not required to plead to the indictable offences when he appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.

Thompson was charged with attempting to set fire to 48 Highwood Lane, Paget, on Tuesday when a person was inside; with intending to burn Henry James by throwing a petrol bottle; with wilfully and unlawfully causing damage to the window of Carol Ann Simmons and intending to cause damage by throwing an article containing an inflammable liquid.

Mr. Francis released Thompson, who was in Police custody, on $5,000 bail and a like surety. He ordered that he have no contact with the complainants, and that he report to Police each Tuesday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Thompson was ordered to reappear in plea court on April 16.
