Senate praises Lady Richards

"She was a woman of great dignity,'' Sen. Simons said. "Bermuda is poorer for her passing.'' Lady Richards, the widow of Premier Sir Edward Richards, was laid to rest in Christ Church Presbyterian Cemetery on Tuesday.

In the week before her death, Lady Richards' grandson, Mr. Christopher Edward Richards, also died. Condolences were sent to the Richards family over his loss as well.

Sen. Terry Lister requested that condolences be forwarded to the survivors of Bermuda Industrial Union official and former Somerset Cup Match player Mr.

Calvert Bean.

He also asked that congratulations be sent to the organisers of the recent World Rugby Classic.

Sen. Neletha Butterfield praised the Bermuda Nurses' Association for organising the recent conference of Caribbean nurses, the Physical Abuse Centre for 15 years of providing shelter to abused women and children, ten St.

Paul AME Church women's committee honourees, new Women's Resource Centre chairwoman Ms Toni Daniels and the recipients of recent Police promotions.

She also congratulated International Risk Management for donating 15 computers to a Warwick school and the Youth to Youth group on the occasion of its eighth annual conference.

Sen. Alf Oughton meanwhile, asked that sailor Mr. Malcolm Smith be congratulated over his recent Sunfish World Championship win, while Sen.

Milton Scott congratulated performers in the recent Premier's Concert and Sen.

Yvette Swan (UBP) cited Warwick Academy speech competition winner Mr. Adam Burch and the organisers of the recent "Random Acts of Kindness'' walk and beach clean-up.
