Simons to be sentenced today
has pleaded guilty to ten charges of fraud, misrepresentations and making false pretence, was deferred yesterday by Magistrate Edward King until later today.
Simons, who committed the offences while already serving a six-month suspended sentence for similar charges, was remanded in custody. This is the second time Simons' sentencing has been deferred. He plead guilty to the charges last month, and at that time Senior Magistrate Will Francis put off sentencing to await a social inquiry report. Prosecution and defence counsel yesterday requested the case be held over. Mr. Francis has been off the island and was unable to resume work on the case until today.
The allegations stem from a two-month fraud spree which netted him nearly $1,500 in goods.
