Bermuda's sole Winter Olympian in Japan on Friday.

Deputy Premier Jerome Dill called for congratulations to be sent to Patrick Singleton for his "absolutely first-class performance'' in the luge competition.

Congratulations will also be sent to the Island's top professional golfer Dwayne Pearman after Mr. Dill noted his sixth place finish in the Trinidad and Tobago Open.

Mr. Dill noted that Mr. Singleton was following in "the short tradition'' of Bermudian lugers and also pointed out the coverage of the Island he had gleaned in his efforts.

Mr. Singleton finished 27th after two days of racing last Monday and Tuesday.

Bermuda's only other Winter Olympian was Mr. Singleton's mentor Simon Payne who competed in the luge in the 1992 and 1994 Olympics.

Shadow Minister of Youth Development, Sport, Parks and Recreation Nelson Bascome and Minister of Youth Development, Sport, Parks and Recreation Tim Smith asked to be associated with these remarks.
