George's was grounded by Magistrate Edward King last week.

Reginald Wayne Smith, 18, of Mullett Bay, St. Georges was disqualified from driving all vehicles for five years in total and fined $2,470 by Mr. King.

"You have a horrendous record,'' said Mr. King, noting Smith had five previous traffic offences.

Crown Counsel Veronica Daley told the court that the St. George's chase on December 5 ended when Smith's car hit a wall.

Investigations by officers revealed the teenager had no driver's licence.

Smith was issued a ticket for driving in a manner dangerous and for not having a driving licence.

Smith failed to come to court for other offences three times between February, 1997 and May, 1999.

He was fined $420 for the speeding offence and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

For other offences ranging from driving while disqualified to having no insurance, Mr. King fined Smith a further $2,030 and banned him for a further four years.

"You can get a brand new bike for that money, you can even get a second hand car for that kind of money,'' said Mr. King.

"If you come back here you are going westward. You are my Y2K man. Catch a taxi, get a lift, row a boat. You are a menace on the road and you are not to drive anything with an engine.''
