following an attack at the weekend.

Ki-Won Kinta Butterfield has been in the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital since the early hours of Saturday, suffering facial and skull fractures.

He was found unconscious outside Woody's Drive Inn in Somerset around 1 a.m.

on Saturday.

Perry Kuhn Simons, 24, of Long Bay Lane, Sandys, has been charged with the attempted murder of Mr. Butterfield, and with intent to do him grievous bodily harm, and unlawful wounding, as well as being in possession with an offensive weapon, that of a baseball bat.

He has been remanded into custody, to appear before the court again on Tuesday, September 19.

RESIDENTS STAY PUT JAL Residents stay put The eight illegal tenants living at the Woodshop Plus centre are still in place more than two weeks after being threatened with eviction by Government.

Last week Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott said housing had been offered to all the residents and he was waiting to hear their response.

But Woodshop Plus on-site administrator Abdul-Moja Ebbin said: "There is no housing. That's a major problem.

"We are working through the housing corporation who are trying to find emergency housing so we can comply with Government's request that we don't live here but there is nowhere to go -- there is a housing crisis.

"We are hoping we can find a place through them and we are also looking for ourselves.

"The Minister made a statement that he hopes the bailiffs don't have to pursue this.

"We are still working with the Housing Corporation but we are on our guard -- eviction could happen.'' TWO HOMES BURGLED CRM Two homes burgled Police are investigating three incidents of theft that occurred in the Pembroke area.

Two involved house burglaries on Wednesday, and the third is the theft from a boat.

A North Shore Road resident reported that her house was broken into sometime during the day on Wednesday. The burglar used force to get inside the property and stole a significant amount of jewellery.

The same day, a burglar broke into a house in Middletown Drive, Pembroke, between 9 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. and stole a Nokia cellular phone and a Sega Dreamcast game machine.

And a bimini top was stolen from a boat kept at Mills Creek Marina. It was least seen earlier in the month.

THIEVES HIT HOTEL ROOM CRM Thieves hit hotel room Two visitors' impressions of Bermuda were likely dented on Wednesday night when they returned to their hotel room and found it had been ransacked.

The Elbow Beach Hotel guests said they left their room locked at 8.45 p.m. and returned more than two hours later to find someone had entered the room and allegedly broken into its safe.

O'BRIEN SUES COLLEGE EDC O'Brien sues College Charles Leon O'Brien is suing the Bermuda College. Mr. O'Brien was brought in on a nine-month contract by the college last year to prepare a five-year-plan for its ailing Stonington Beach Hotel.

Last night Mr. O'Brien was off the Island while College bosses said they knew nothing of the legal bid.
