READER FIRES CHAIN LETTER WARNING LET Reader fires chain letter warning A reader is warning people about a chain letter circulating on the Island.

Six years ago Craig Shergold had a brain tumour and was in need of surgery to save his life. A chain letter was circulated requesting that those receiving it send a get well card to Craig in order for him to be entered in the Guinness Book of Records for the most get well cards.

Craig, who was seven at the time, was sent over 15 million cards and was entered in the Guinness Book of Records in May 1990. He was operated on in March of 1991 and has completely recovered from his brain tumour.

Recently, another letter surfaced on Craig's behalf asking for people to send business cards to the Make A Wish Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia. It also suggested that recipients send the letter to 20 businesses asking them to do the same.

Mrs. Jo Stanton of Creative Interiors Ltd received one of the letters on May 19 and remembered that a similar request was made on behalf of the boy four years ago in England. She called the Make A Wish Foundation and discovered that they had never heard of Craig.

Mrs. Stanton is urging anyone who receives such a letter to ignore it.
