Teen made threat to kill
motoring offence, Juvenile Court heard.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was stopped by officers while riding on the back of a motorcycle on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, on July 20.
Two Police officers testified that the youth was controlling the steering and acceleration of the bike for part of the journey, which he denied.
Det. Con. Garic Swainson told Magistrate Carlisle Greaves that he and two officers in an unmarked Police car stopped the youth and the girl who was in front.
He said fellow officer P.c. Andrew Exell asked the youth for his name, and claimed the 15-year-old replied: "I don't have to give you my f***ing name.'' When informed he was under arrest for using offensive language, the youth allegedly replied: "You're not putting those f***ing handcuffs on me.'' Det. Con. Swainson said the teen struggled with P.c. Exell but was restained and put in the back of the Police car.
"He managed to open the door and crawl out. I grabbed the defendant and pushed him back in the Police car,'' he said. "Once I closed the door, the defendant spat on the window then lay back and began to kick the door with both his feet.
"This caused the door to buckle open. I told the other officers to get in the car and we proceeded to St. George's Police Station.
"While we were travelling to the Police station, the defendant stated that if he had a weapon he would kill us all, or chop us up.'' The teenager denies driving while disqualified because he is too young, driving without due care and attention, failing to give his name and address to a Police officer, using offensive words, unlawfully damaging a Police car, and obstructing a Police officer.
The youth's lawyer Marc Telemaque suggested his client had not used foul language and that he had not been driving the bike, but Det. Con. Swainson rejected this.
The trial was adjourned until November 29.
