Teenager denies abusing Pitbull
that he abused and neglected a Pitbull terrier.
Sixteen-year-old Llewellyn Gomes, of Town Hill, denied abusing the dog by picking it up and throwing it into the sea.
He also pleaded not guilty to causing unnecessary suffering by failing to provide medical attention for its skin disorder.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner set the trial down for September 26 and released Gomes on $500 bail.
The Royal Gazette reported last month that poor treatment of dogs, especially Pitbull terriers, was a growing trend on the Island.
One story highlighted was that of a Pitbull puppy which had to be put down because it was suffering from an intolerably painful skin disorder called mange, officially known as demadex.
It is not known whether this case involves the same medical problem.
