MAN STABBED IN NECK CRM Man stabbed in neck A domestic incident turned ugly on Saturday when a man was stabbed in the neck.
Police spokesperson P.c. Gary Venning said Police were called to a Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish home early on Saturday morning following a report of a domestic dispute.
A 28-year-old man was discovered with a stab wound to the neck and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
P.c. Venning said the wound was believed to have been inflicted by the man's girlfriend.
Inquiries are continuing.
ABANDONED BOAT FOUND SHI RAO Abandoned boat found An abandoned yacht was found floating 350 miles southwest of Bermuda over the weekend.
Harbour Radio said HMS London discovered the German-registered vessel Ruth adrift, but no one was on board.
The Royal Navy put six crewmen on board, who will sail the 49-foot boat to a base in Puerto Rico.
The boat was found in good condition, with its engine in working condition.
Harbour Radio said the last logged entry for the boat was in August, 1996.
German officials said they believed that the boat was reported missing then, but were trying to contact the owner for confirmation.
POWER CUT HITS SHOPS BUC Power cut hits shops Several Front street stores lost their power yesterday morning.
Bermuda Electric Light Company spokesperson Linda Smith said the 6 a.m. power cut was the result of an underground cable fault located in a vault near Number One Shed on Front Street.
Ms Smith said the blackout affected only several stores located in an area stretching from Number six Shed to Point Pleasant Road.
"It only affected those customers coming off the feed from the vault,'' she said. "Basically it was some of the businesses on Front Street.'' Ms Smith said BELCO workers rerouted the power and managed to get everyone back on by 11 a.m.
The workers spent the rest of the day trying to fix the fault.
But Ms Smith said customers should not be experience any more power failures.
NEW CLEARWATER GATE GVT MIL New Clearwater gate Locals now have better access to a popular East End Beach.
For the Bermuda Land Development Company opened another gate to the Clearwater Beach recreation area yesterday.
Number Four Gate on St. David's Road, by the new Clearwater Middle School, will provide St. David's residents with more direct access to the area.
And the new entrance/exit will provide a safer route for joggers and cyclist.
The gate will be open each day from 5.30 a.m. to midnight.
CAR HITS CYCLES AC Car hits cycles Police are investigating a weekend accident involving four vehicles.
Police said the mishap took place around 7 a.m. Saturday in Paget.
A Mitsubishi Colt was heading down Stowe Hill when the driver swerved to avoid an animal but hit three parked motorcycles.
All three cycles were damaged in the collision.
