Top policeman to retire

Ch. Insp. Jeff Sanders, who has been with the Force for almost 33 years and served under seven Commissioners, is retiring.

Ch. Insp. Sanders has been second in command of the Force's administration department since 1981.

Coming to Bermuda in 1960 from the then North Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary in England, Ch. Insp. Sanders spent time in uniform and criminal investigation departments before being promoted in 1981 to inspector.

In addition to being second in command of the administration department, he acted as officer in charge of both administration and finance departments for a period of 18 months in 1991/92 due to reorganisation and re-assignment of officers.

During his time on the Force Ch. Insp. Sanders attended training courses in Ottawa and the UK. And in 1985, he attended the Executive Development Course at the Canadian Police College.
