Roger Lightbourn told Senior Magistrate Will Francis on Friday that he was "absolutely not guilty'' of stealing a $25 cash box and the restaurant's float from Gerry Outerbridge as she was about to begin work at 4 p.m.
Lightbourn, 31, of Dundonald Street, also denies assaulting Ms Outerbridge.
Mr. Francis set the trial for April 16 in Magistrates' Court and released Lightbourn on $500 bail.
The bail was granted on condition that Lightbourn have no contact with the victim and that he stay away from the restaurant.
